To be honest, anything was better than the performing monkey routine than he'd been stuck on before, but that didn't mean that he had an active preference for being unable to even wander out of HQ to grab a bite to eat. The sun was setting on London, the Howling Commandos having just returned from their latest case of tackling HYDRA bases, and Steve Rogers had been hungry. Of course, that didn't matter in the slightest to the shady figures who had started to obviously trail after a woman in a coat - almost shamelessly, leaving a poor taste in his mouth.
It's not as if he didn't think that women couldn't defend themselves - she could've been an operative as skilled as Peggy for all he knew - but as more people began to walk at a brisk to follow her, he couldn't help but think that this wasn't something he could turn away from regardless. His feet automatically rerouted, changing his direction to follow the figures who were walking toward a set of alleyways to avoid the business of London streets. Fine with him. It felt like Brooklyn all over again.
Which is probably why he didn't hesitate as the final turn into the alley came and he tapped one suspicious-looking figure on the shoulder, watched him turn with a gun very obviously in his hand, and didn't hesitate to clock someone who was very clear up to no good.
Bracing himself for a larger fight, he stepped forward and kept his ears attuned to listen so he didn't make a wrong turn in the side streets - ]
