[ The words he wants her to say are ones she wants to say, too, ones that she doesn't think she should say, for they don't match up with the image she wants to portray. The next words he wants her to say are words she could say but would never sincerely mean.

Go with him? To see how happy he is with his friends, to see just how much better he is with them? To see just how much more he belongs with them and not with her? Ridiculous, stupid, idiotic, foolish, worthless.

His hope is absurd and so easily taken advantage of. He's too easy to manipulate. She worries about him. Chiaki is the type to fly to those who need him, and without her, he's sure to run off another cliff.

(Except Four is needy. She's so, so needy. )

I can't just uproot my life here. [ As if she didn't already do that to get there. ] I'd be a burden if I went. I don't want to hold you back.

[ She closes her eyes, as if she's trying to stave off tears. ]

I don't want you to go, but you should.
