isn't it the worst thing in the world when you discover that the person that lets you braid their hair, goes with you on 3 am ghost hunts, and lets you mess around with their spooky aesthetic blog might actually be your friend?
My mind goes to the fact that you're crushing my lungs a little probably in repayment for not texting you back, but I mean. I'm not going to be angry if you're just in need of a place to say tonight.
[Nika's been being pure from the start? hdu take this to a dirty place, Baren, reconsider.
anyway. reaching up, he casually pushes Baren off him, standing and pulling a hairtie out of his pocket to put his hair back up.]
Are you calling me a couch surfer? Please. If I'm already up this late, I'm looking to lose a few hours in a more fun way than sleep.
[There's an immediate roll of his eyes at that even as he's letting himself be pushed off now, moving to stand and streeeeetch his legs back out.
As for the adventure:]
There's a neat rumor that I heard about the bridge closer to the cemetery. A very busy spot for jumpers, apparently. History says someone got hanged there once?
Because Baren needs to be extra bundled up (and doesn't want to be spotted wearing one of his designer jackets when he's doing shady shit, it would be bad for business).]
[fine, but Nikkari's throwing it at him for making him give it up. instead, he pulls on a sweatshirt, figuring if it gets too cold he'll manage.
one hand grabs the Ghost Hunting Bag (which is really just the bag with a camera and some supplies) and the other makes sure he has his keys before pulling on shoes.]
Shut the window before we go. You're closer.
[and the one who opened it in the first place. at any rate, he's already navigating out to go head out the front door.]
[Neat! Free jacket!! Baren grins as he catches it, immediately slipping it on over his own jacket - now he's double warm and he'll endure until it gets colder.
And then if Nika shows the first sign of a shiver that'll be when Baren tosses it to him - but that's not something he'll ever admit to out loud. He'll do as asked, shutting the window and locking it up because he... is conscientious, actually, before trailing after Nikkari easily.]
[he knows the way, and they can walk. it's not too far, in Nikkari's opinion, and he's got enough energy to carry them through.]
So? How'd you hear about this?
[as per usual. that's the first thing that goes in any of the posts Nika makes about their adventures - the myth, how they heard it, the boring technical stuff that means they're being totally legit about it.]
[do not talk to him about being slow he will leapfrog over you if he feels like it, nika
but anyway he's catching up easily enough to match the other's pace]
Talk at a party earlier. [but Baren never lets himself drink too much around strangers, so he's still crystal clear on everything] Mentioned our last adventure and guess someone wanted to be relevant, so they chimed in about their ghostly knowledge.
Which was apparently a scare by this place, cold chills and seeing a rope that wasn't there in the morning.
[that's new to him, which means more research and more pictures, but also more adventuring. and if it's nothing, then it's just a good way to burn off energy.]
But if they didn't know more than that, then it's not like we can go around provoking them out... [like that time there had been the ghost of the angry businessman that never showed up but that they had fun with hurling abuse at for an hour. and then of course when Nikkari got home, making sure nothing ended up clinging on him. never hurt, even if some people called it bullshit.]
Do you want to look for cold spots or try and see if any areas feel weird enough to acknowledge? The rope's a long shot...
[Listen, Baren's way less technical about this than Nikkari. He always has been. It's why Nikkari always has to get rid of pictures of Baren posing and trying to put bunny ears where he thinks a ghost would be.
Though he's gonna breathe out once - and notice as his breath starts to drift upward....]
Ah well. An extra cold spot or something, I guess.

[baren stop fueling it]
Your wishful thinking is flattering, you know?

Might as well have a look.

A hanging? Now that's really interesting. Probably full of spirit energy.
[oh, he'll probably need a jacket too, so time to get that...]
You need anything before we head out?

[Shamelessly.
Because Baren needs to be extra bundled up (and doesn't want to be spotted wearing one of his designer jackets when he's doing shady shit, it would be bad for business).]

C'mon, c'mon, let's not miss the haunting hour.
