given that he has (had?) devoted so much of his life to the keeping of museums and the items collected, he thinks that he has a special expertise in both the permanent and the utterly temporary. some objects last, kept through the ages and preserved for their antiquity, but the kingdoms and people they once belonged to come and go.
is there anything that mikazuki would care to keep?
he hums thoughtfully, taking a sip of his own sake until he can find the words to capture the sentiment he wishes to articulate.]
This, perhaps.

To know, reliably, it always comes back to you and I.
there was once a time where they were practically attached at the hip, but life and duty made them go separate ways. but even with that, they still managed to always find their way back to each other. so many of their friends and family have passed over the years, but in the end, the two of them are still here.

This may be the first time anyone has said anything about me is reliable, Mikazuki.
[tsurumaru is rather prone to whimsy, mikazuki knows that too. he'll run for the sake of running, and set up surprises just to see the reactions that he can get. of course he's chaotic.
but mikazuki thinks he has been on the receiving end of tsurumaru's care too often to say that he's only chaotic.]
I have always found your stability to be rather plain to see.
[ he takes another sip, before setting his drink down carefully so it won't spill over.
he knows there are probably some old friends who would have agreed-- but even with tsurumaru's other closest friends, he preferred to keep a certain air around him that appeared more carefree than not. but... ]
and there's a moment where tsurumaru leans in, although it's hard to say where exactly his aim is-- but a few seconds after he moves, there's the distant sound of what might be a firework erupting. if they're looking, they could see distant lights in the sky that fade away.
looks like someone at a different part of the city lit up fireworks.
the curve of mikazuki's smile ticks upward at that - though it's hard to say exactly what prompted it. instead he just tilts his head curiously at the spectacle of fireworks]
What a nice surprise.
I wonder if there is something to celebrate today.
Ha ha ha. So it is. We are very fortunate to receive a lovely view for moon watching and a fireworks show both.
[it makes mikazuki thinks about the temporary nature of things - for tomorrow the moon will look different, and the fireworks are so quick to disappear no matter how they light up the sky.
it is so easy to find things that are never meant to last.]
[tsuru is gonna get ever closer to figuring out what a furry is. but mikazuki was honestly watching the camera rather placidly as soon as the countdown started - but the early trigger probably manages to catch the way that his expression blooms into a gently amused and surprised smile]
Ha ha ha. I wonder if you captured anything worthwhile.

he'll bring his glass to his lips to take a sip. ]
What are some things you'd want to last, Mikazuki?

You must be observant.

[mikazuki tilts his head at that, still amused even as he takes another sip of his sake]
I suppose I do like to keep my eye on what I find beautiful.

It takes away from the moment if I spend time fiddling with this thing, doesn't it?

[among other pranks
but mikazuki will nonetheless wait patiently, but look amused indeed when he sees his own reflection captured in the small device]
My, this generation will do all they can to fit the world into the palm of their hand.

Apparently, there is a way to create things like animal ears onto the photo... Sada-chan had shown me how to do it.
[ he squints at the screen, like he wants to figure it out, but he never will because this is the normal photo app and not something like snapchat.
he gives up quickly enough. ]

I suppose I am in no great need of it. Do take care of it.

barks out a laugh ]
No need for your soul?

[mikazuki would 100% outsource care for his own damn soul if it'll give him one less thing to worry about
this is mostly not joking]

[ gently, but as gently as tsurumaru is able to handle anything, which greatly varies depending on his mood. ]
Maybe I was a demon in another life...
[ SOUL SUCKING DEMON......... ]
no subject
[as if mikazuki worries about most things on an average day]
Though I wonder if your demonhood need only belong to another lifetime.
[some people would call tsuru a demon in this one, he's pretty sure]
