[diet member an joon-gi is a righteous man - sort of. most of the citizens in his district would suggest that he is patient, responsible, and capable. his daughter? would rather say that he's slow to action, fake, and inconsiderate of the true problems of the people.
who's to say who's right?
on this evening of a very luxurious fundraiser for the upper echelons of tokyo society, the ballroom that they've rented out is glimmering with decor and wealth. CEOs of businesses and other politicians are mingling, live music is playing from a collection of string instruments, and the buffet is simply to die for. joon-gi himself is talking with others, occasionally talking up and bragging about his beautiful daughter
- who is planning on robbing her father blind.
their manor's security is very dense for the evening, but she thinks that her benefit is that none would really expect her to be a suspect if she just went to go and check on some of the valuables the family keeps locked away in the vault, right? she just needs a little bit more time, a little bit later into the night as everyone else has their drinks so it's easier for her to slip away.
those are the thoughts on her mind even as she nurses the same glass she's been drinking from for the past hour, nose wrinkling disdainfully at the pageantry of the evening...
it's not as though people haven't been trying to approach her during the evening - she's the daughter of the host, after all - but she gives the same unflinching answer to all who approach:]
Write a check for a thousand dollars to the charity and I'll talk to you - and not a second sooner.
[diet member joon-gi is a righteous man who. . . well. likes to flaunt his wealth, as many in his position do. the problem with flaunting wealth, however? is that doing so tends to capture the attention of the city's robin hood-ing do-gooders]

[but one thing is clear: there's a rather handsome young man attending the gala hosted by joon-gi tonight. the secretary of a humble politician known as yoshida toranosuke, who has run for reelection in his district for the past twenty years only to be defeated every time. though elected official he may not be, his influence on the political world is still great enough to receive invitations to lavish gatherings like this. and why wouldn't he bring his most trusted advisor with him along for the ride??]
[akira can't say he's a big fan of parties like this, but. . . he does his best to fit in. to flit from person to person, engaging in idle chatter to pass the time. he seems to be. . . ah, checking his watch rather frequently, though? as though he's waiting for something. and his gaze-- one that sweeps the area every ten minutes or so-- is a bit too keen for someone who is just here to party.]

Ah, is that how it works?
[the notes of his voice are greatly amused, and there's something sparkling in the backs of his gray irises, hidden only by the black frames that rest on his features]
And how many donations have you gotten out of the guests so far?
[joon-gi's daughter arguably has a heart for justice and charity that's difficult to match. though she comes back for the occasional event like this when her father leaves her absolutely no choice, there were rumors spinning amidst the higher-ups that she had finally done something wild enough to earn being cut off for the family, exiled from her father's good graces.
she actually just disappeared one evening with a few guards and tried to stamp out information about a group of drug smugglers in the city, and joon-gi decided to send her off to a private boarding school so she could further her studies amidst the people.
the fact that she was still paraded around at these fancy events managed to kill the worst of the rumors - but it did mean that she was something closer to a mystery amidst the guests, especially given how much she kept to herself apparently on purpose. but the young man asks the golden question and she can't seem to help herself - ]
Three! Can you believe that? Three thousand dollars just because some idiots think that touching my hand is the highest honor of the night! Maybe I should raise the price and demand they give enough money to add some folks to the non-profit's payroll.
