[baby..... buzen will just keep himself awake then, watching over them both. his fingers card through itsuki's hair with one hand, light and idle motions even as he keeps his gaze low and keeping guard over both of them silently
hyuuga's dream is probably a combination of things - the cries of paraiso and sekigahara can sound awfully similar after all. a zombie-like mitsunari that he has to kill himself - with himself. a bloody sea, the valleys being lost to darkness.
but itsuki can manipulate it as he needs - and hyuuga will settle once he sees him. :( ]
he slowly brings in the light at the same time he gradually lowers the sound of the cries, summons the wind to waft away the smell of blood. and as for ishida mitsunari... he shares his last memory of the man with hyuuga, the dream the man himself was having, ever focused on his duty.
something real, to make up for the nightmare.
itsuki wants hyuuga to have a nice dream too, a peaceful one -- not only by itsuki's standards, but something hyuuga himself would find peace in. so he keeps it simple, changing the dream slowly until the familiar surroundings of the citadel fade into view. in this dream, hyuuga's surrounded by the other swords, sharing umeboshi. itsuki tries one too, winks at hyuuga and asks him how it tastes -- he's recreated it from memory but it's probably inferior to what hyuuga can make? he's looking forward to trying some when they both wake up....
once it's clear that the dream won't teeter bavk into a nightmare, itsuki passes the reins of the dream back to hyuuga and surfaces back to the waking world, blinking slowly as looks up at buzen]
...He'll be okay now. I want him to get some real rest, so I tried not to stay too long.
[hyuuga is truly appreciative of the adjustments - probably a little close to tears when he thanks itsuki as he leaves - but buzen just smiles softly down at itsuki once he wakes up again.
he can't really fold himself over to give him a kiss, so instead he'll just reach for itsuki's hand again to press his lips over his knuckles.]
Mm. I think I got to see him ease a little - so I knew you were helping a lot. Thanks for helping take care of him, Suki.
You've done plenty. It's something the rest of us wouldn't be able to manage.
[softly and reassuringly
as for how tired he looks - he mostly seems alright, alert and focused as he takes keeping watch of hyuuga and itsuki both very seriously even in their own home. but there is the slightest strain in the corner of his eyes, the only hint that all their troubles have taken a small toll on him]
hyuuga is eased into rest now, and the others are all hopefully recuperating after their difficult mission. buzen is tired, but... he is still mostly just relieved.
it helps knowing that he and itsuki aren't tense with each other anymore either,]
[rather easily? buzen will shift then, letting his head fall against itsuki's shoulder - he doesn't quite let himself close his eyes or yawn, but he relaxes some as he lets itsuki take part of his weight]
I like getting to protect you too - I like to take care of you.
But... [he hums thoughtfully] If you were like us, a tsukumogami... you'd probably be different - we think differently, and have different priorities than humans....

itsuki changes it little by little.

itsuki turns the wrist of the hand in buzen's so he can trace his lips with a thumb, quietly]
Wish I could have done more, but... I'm glad I could help him. [but he doesn't sound self-pitying at least,
he peers up at buzen, speaking of sleep -- how tired does buzen look right now,]

itsuki moves his fingers from buzen's lips to his eyes, gently brushing the corners]
...How are you feeling?

[in the simplest, truest sense.
hyuuga is eased into rest now, and the others are all hopefully recuperating after their difficult mission. buzen is tired, but... he is still mostly just relieved.
it helps knowing that he and itsuki aren't tense with each other anymore either,]
no subject
...Me too.
[he likes the view from down here, but... Itsuki carefully sits up and moves next to Buzen, nudging him]
I think it's my turn now... Shall I lend you my shoulder?
no subject
[rather easily? buzen will shift then, letting his head fall against itsuki's shoulder - he doesn't quite let himself close his eyes or yawn, but he relaxes some as he lets itsuki take part of his weight]
... thanks, Suki.

That should be my line. I like it when you rely on me. [hehe,
he moves his hand in slow circles on his back,]
You can sleep if you're tired. I'll wake you.
no subject
It's alright. I can wait until later to sleep - I want to make sure that I can still help out on our watch shift.
no subject
You'll help just by keeping me company, you know? You don't have to be awake...
no subject
Probably more just that old habits die hard...
[unless another sword is on watch duty, he doesn't really like leaving itsuki alone and awake by himself...]
no subject
I should learn a thing or two from you.
That way I can keep watch with you when we go on missions.
[he'd lean in for a kissy but he doesn't want to dislodge buzen from his spot... he strokes his back instead,]
no subject
If you want to.... But you shouldn't push yourself too much.
We are built a little differently, after all.
no subject
...That's true.
It'd be nice if I could be more like you... but I like it when you protect me too.
no subject
I like getting to protect you too - I like to take care of you.
But... [he hums thoughtfully] If you were like us, a tsukumogami... you'd probably be different - we think differently, and have different priorities than humans....
So that's why I think I like how you are.
no subject
...Even if I make you angry again in the future?
[not that he plans to? but still... maybe some things would be easier if he were the same...]
no subject
Yeah. Even then.
We'll figure it out, won't we? Even if we make each other mad sometimes.
no subject
[he curls his hand in buzen's, enjoying the feel of his bare skin without his gloves]
I like that too. ...Figuring things out with you. Maybe we'll grow even closer to each other.
[EVEN THOUGH
THEY'RE ADMITTEDLY PRETTY CLOSE
EVEN NOW]
no subject
[he has to ask,]
no subject
squeezes buzen closer to him]
I think we could go a little further?
Like sleeping on my lap, and leaving the watching to me...
no subject
... not now.
But maybe I can sleep on your lap on a more relaxed day...
no subject
Mm, okay. On a more relaxed day... and maybe somewhere where it's just us?
[the hilarity of buzen resting on itsuki's lap while kotegiri rests on buzen's is so funny but itsuki can imagine it so well]
no subject
Sure, if that's what you want.
[he just can't nap here and now when he's on watch duty right after a mission....]
