[ many times, yves tends to the noirges under the cover of night or early morning. as little light as he can manage to work with, so that in case there is the rare occasion that anyone else wanders closer to field of flowers, he can always do his best to obscure himself before he's recognized. there's also something sweet about it, quiet and calm as he speaks to the flowers almost like he's speaking to his own grandfather. little tales about what adventures courrune has brought him, or wistful little hopes whispered into their buds as he dutifully plucks their bulbs and tends to them.
but there was a storm recently. one that battered debris and carried along broken branches and stone even into the lycoris fields. yves has been trying his best to gather and clear those as well, careful to not disrupt the flowers himself or else Death will come to reap his soul as well
except
in his carefulness to not harm any of the flowers, impeded by the darkness of before dawn, his foot catches on a rock closer to the cliffside. he flails, stumbles, falls.
and down down down he goes, calling out with nothing more than a startled ] Whoa!! [ because like. it's not like he expects anyone to hear him???? he reaches a hand out to try to find leverage among the cliff to slow his descent before he gets caught in the waves below
still not the worst thing to happen to him this week ]
[ As usual, Ankou starts his climb up the cliff by an indiscernible but rather safe path. It's the usual time of night where he'd explore the forest he's so familiar with as if it's any different from before... Lying in wait, knowing well that Yves or Ceres will likely appear at this hour. Maybe both will cross paths, as he knows they would for however many times, and he can watch them interact with a small shriveled hope in his weary old heart. He can stifle the ugly jealousy if he can see her smile, even if it isn't for him.
It should be relatively uneventful, but he hears a familiar voice as he reaches the plateau and watches the chaotically tragic tumble with so much distress. He JUST got here? How? Why? No, he knows how and why. This is incredibly predictable of Yves and he curses him for it. You idiot!!
So... The problem is Ankou can't swim well. It would be his priority that Yves doesn't get caught by the waves. Regardless of how the dark waters have calmed over the years, he rather they escape the fate of one or both of them needing a savior.
Picking up the lower half of his attire, he bolts over to the cliff side (very carefully) and grabs onto Yves' wrist just in time, forsaking whatever vow he made to discreetness and secrecy. ]
You...
[ He doesn't have the strength to pull him up easily... Practically against the ground almost flat, he's using his whole body and gravity to be Yves' anchor, but they can't stay like this forever. ]
You...!!
[ With every ache of his lithe body, WHY ARE THEY IN THIS SITUATION. Because of YOU.
His other hand grabs onto Yves, hoping this will help as he tries to drag him up. At least far enough for Yves to reach the edge himself. ]
[ Adolphe is here wherever he was asked to be in the Institute whether it's Scien's lab or his messy ass room, arms crossed and eyebrows knitted fiercely. Of course he wouldn't be too happy when he was taken into a car mid-patrol and driven to Cerneveaul, then to the center of this whole island. At least he was able to contact someone about his abduction so they can take over his shift... On this little trip, he thinks about how he has grown to not like cars very much.
There's always the will to resist, but Scien could very much ruin his life, so he will at least hear him out first before making any choices. He ushers a heavy sigh as he closes his eyes, like the darkness behind his eyelids will make this all better. ]
