[Chiaki normally doesn't have coffee, honestly. He's already hyperactive enough, so everyone banned him from consuming anything that could increase his energy. But Chiaki is also definitely just managing from an all-nighter, which makes him a little slower than usual in the first place.
But! He's got a busy schedule ahead of him today, lots of idol jobs to do and whatnot. So... coffee.
Except in his slowness, it actually takes him a second to realize that the cashier is ready for him. So he gives her a sheepish smile first before opening his mouth, ready to place his order!
And then.
He's beaten to it. The girl behind him orders something and he turns back to her, befuddled but still gently amused, offering a smile.]
[she's too caught up in her own thoughts, really. knowing this is only a handful of hours before she has to go back and pretend like none of it happened - that she's out without supervision. Angel knows enough to know her situation's an odd one, but she still treasures the moments of freedom that she gets every now and then.
things like getting a mocha should be easy. except. except she has to realize a second too late that it wasn't her turn, it was his, and she instantly looks apologetic.]
I'm so sorry--just go ahead.
[hopefully the cashier won't be too bothered by having to restart the order. damn, something like this just had to happen....]
Except as he's turning back to the cashier, he's humming happily:] Keep the mocha please! Plus a green tea latte for me. Yes, that should be all.
[CHIPPER AS ALWAYS and before Angel can even really protest or say anything to get the mocha taken off the order, he's paying! Just like that. Sometimes Chiaki has to tap into that idol smoothness, you know?]
[it all happens so swiftly that Angel can't even tell the cashier not to, bewildered in a way that she isn't used to. sure, you read stories about nice people on the internet, but you never expect it to happen before your eyes.
the drinks are going to be made, but she has to say something as they move away and wait and allow others to place their orders.]
I-thanks very much, that's so nice of you, I have to pay you back.
[since in her eyes, it was a move to help her save face. not something sincere, surely?]
[Hello Angel, this is Sincerity looking at you right in the face. Chiaki's already got a smiling pulling at his lips even as his eyebrows raise in confusion.]
I don't mind at all. It's a good deed that I was happy to do.
[that's just what heroes do!!! and chiaki always wants to be a Hero.]
[she says it mildly, as though it's fact. sure, it's nice to read stories about it, but it never could happen directly to you. at least, that's what she had thought.
his openness is striking - enough that she looks honestly confused by it. not put off, just thrown for a loop.]
[He seems pretty optimistic about that too, giving her a sunny smile coupled with an easy-going shrug.]
People have good intentions, but maybe their execution is lacking, ha ha ha! [His laugh is loud - it probably gets a couple heads to turn, not that Chiaki notices.] You needn't worry, I will be dauntless in my kindness! I will make up for all of them!! I swear it.
[is...is he real? the thought that he's not crosses Angel's mind, that she'd ended up dozing on the train that had brought her to this place and she made up some strange young man in the process.
the thought makes her laugh, just a little bit, and she realizes it happened after the fact, when the barista is calling out their order and there's a small smile tugging at her own lips.
if it's a dream, it's not such a bad one so far, if for three minutes she can stop worrying in the back of her head that she's going to get The Phone Call that means she has to get back home in under an hour.]
[He's definitely real - though his head is admittedly a bit up in the clouds.
At the call of their order, his head turns and he's immediately stepping toward the counter. He retrieves both drinks easily and offers hers out to her with a sunny smile in return.]
Is it? Ha ha ha, I admit that I would very much like to be noble!!
