[Lili was antsy when she saw Imano off - she's always antsy when her swords her off, after all. She didn't think that she could be blamed for it.

With each passing letter, the anxiety worsens.

Until the last one breaks her heart entirely.

The other swords try to convince her to continue her duties - and she does, to the bare minimum so that the citadel can still function - but Lili has always been wildly emotional.

Without hesitation, she waits for Imano's return at the entrance of their home. Other swords bring her blankets as she waits through the evening, leave tea for her to sip as the day passes before her eyes, but none can convince her to go to her room or attend to other business.

For her, there is nothing more important than welcoming Imano home.]

[ Four days is a little more than half a week. In some ways it's not that long, but certainly, for some people like Lili, it's an agonizing amount of time.

Imanotsurugi wanted to get stronger, of course, but he also wanted to prove he would be good on this journey, that he's grown. In four days, he would tamper with the past, something he might have considered if he wasn't reminded that this citadel is his home back then, and his master is the saniwa, not Yoshitsune.

...The trip didn't go as planned for a lack of a better way to phrase it. But with a flash of light he's back home, and it's with his usual energy, looking about. He wants Lili to not worry, but that might be difficult, considering what he wrote but... ]

I'm back!

[ He waved at the blanketed figure then skips toward her. The snow crunches under his sandals, but he's not too cold with his new clothes and the travelling cloak. Sad letters what sad letters? ]

I... grew up a little?

[It's amazing that he can still possess so much light.

Of course when he arrives, Lili's sitting up. She pulls the blanket tighter around her before it falls, just barely having the attention to mind it, and then she's immediately trying to remember how to use her voice.]

W-Welcome home...!

[Because this is his home, isn't it?

So she's shuffling on her own then, standing now and - Lili's always been a pretty emotional type of person. Even if she's not physically affectionate on a regular basis, the need to reassure him and welcome him back manages to override that. So here, Imano, she's going to share the blanket with you as she throws her arms around him for a hug.]

You...

You did... good...

[ Ah... A hug, with a blanket included? It's not that his Saniwa was incapable of being affectionate; Lili was just, well, Lili. It was something special because you had to earn such a thing from her. Not that it's truly a challenge or anything, but Imanotsurugi had to have a good reason to want headpats, like if he finished chores early or came back from a sortie. It was him, actively seeking it, so this is a big different. Absolutely welcome though, he kind of understands what she went through. ]

Oh! Haha, it's a fluffy welcome, thank you.

[ He right though, this is his home and he's happy to be back. For his family that is always there. The hug is definitely reciprocated! It makes him laugh a little that even if he says he grew, she's still taller. He wishes he could swing her around, like Mutsu does to break tension with those he likes. ]

Has aruji-sama been alright while I was gone?

[ The answer to that is probably obvious, but if Lili the ball of emotion she's quietly known to be, hearing her out is probably a good idea. He appreciates this warm gesture of course! But to be a better sword is to get better at listening to your master. ]

Of... Of course...

[That's convincing.

But Lili pulls back after that, shaking her head and doing her best to wipe the emotion from her face - but that said, her best isn't very good. She's always been the type to wear her heart on her sleeve and this is no different. No matter how much she wants to say that she was fine, no worries at all, she was sort of sitting outside wrapped in a blanket with some tea sitting next to her.

Not that Lili doesn't like a good calming moment but she's also very, very prone to running around if you give her even the slightest opportunity.

Still, she pouts.]

It doesn't feel right that you're the one worrying over me, you know...

[ If Lili wasn't worried, then either she's caught someone bad, or it's an imposter Lili! ...Like that would happen. Who would even let it, much less the Saniwa herself. Imano wriggles in the blanket to get warm, but after the childish action, he look right at Lili with a most serious expression. ]

Well, I have to now.

[ Or perhaps it's just really earnest. They'd be having a pouting contest to an onlooker who didn't know any better. ]

My new job is to look out for everyone! I'm still here because of you and the other swords...

[It's quick - immediate. Firm. Lili is so very easily riled up, puffing up like a cat but there's something more emotional in her words now, something that she's been turning over in her head since she managed to get his last letter. If this is the only place where he can stay then...]

You'll always be here.

Because you'll always have a home here.

Facts that she will fight through hell for.]

I don't... I don't believe in a future where that isn't true, so don't waste breath on something that's so obvious, okay?
