Hiyori won't be outright rude to her right now, but there is something sincere in the way that he tilts his head and looks at her with a budding fondness. He likes to pick things up and treasure them, whether it be cute dogs or people who have lost their way. It'd be bad for her to get the wrong idea...
But worse than that, it'd be terrible if she were to fail and he were to be stuck in this extended engagement. Helping her would help him.
Yet there's something genuinely soft and sincere in his expression as he hums - ]
