Summary: Everybody likes a good bodyguard AU.

[Another day, another attempt to leave the grounds of the capitol -- and therefore another time that Lili got caught and is now being grounded. After no more than a few steps into her chambers does the door slam behind her and get locked from the outside.

Okay.

Fine.

Then with a quick glance back at the door and then one at the window, she's walking toward the window and opening it, contemplating if she can jump out--

Listen, no one can ever say she isn't resourceful.]

[Ah.... it is obvious. And she watches his face, taking note of his displeasure.

Should she have lied about her intentions?

Though all the same, she doesn't want to lie to Yamamoto. So she merely frowns as she looks up at him.]

Gather information if I can.... I want to find out who the supplier is.

[pluvial]

[ yamamoto isn't good with sleuthing, that's gokudera's forte. but it's either refuse and risk the sure possibility of lili attempting to sneak out there on her own and raising the chances of her getting kidnapped, or agree and at least try to make sure they make it back unscathed.

he can make sure she's safe, at the very least. ]

... Okay.

[ he doesn't say anything more, moving to press his ear against the door again before slowly opening it. the hall is empty again and he steps out, holding the door open for lili as he looks around. once he's sure the coast is clear, he takes her hand again and starts off down the hallway. ]

[coastal]

[For a moment, she's ready for him to lead her back to her room and tell her that this is all over then. It's probably not what he was immediately agreeing to in the first place so maybe she wouldn't hold it against him (but she would, even if she'd try to talk herself out of it).

But instead he leads her in the opposite direction and says 'okay'.]

Okay?

[She echoes it faintly, still confused. Tentatively, her hand in his returns his grip, holding onto him instead of agreeing to be tugged.]

..... You aren't angry?

[pluvial]

Not really. Should I be?

[ it's mostly rhetorical. technically, she is the princess so whatever she says goes. but it's not like he can be really mad at her, not when she's trying to help her people.

it doesn't mean he isn't worried though. ]

I promised you earlier. I can't go back on that.

[coastal]

[ . . . ah.

In the end, he's still such an agreeable person. And he's not mad at her. She doesn't say it but she's relieved about it and the concern on her face eases a bit.]

I-I'll repay you for this somehow.

[pluvial]

Haha, it's fine. Just try not to go off on your own when we get there, okay?

[ it isn't too long before they reach the back exit, managing to avoid running into anyone else along the way. he leads her through the servant quarters and the back gardens, stopping at a small break between the bushes to uncover a worn gate. ]

After you.

[coastal]

[Ah... okay. She proceeds ahead of him then and at least seems to know the way to town now that they're out of the palace. So she keeps walking.

Though at this point she's gotten used to holding onto his hand so she doesn't quite let go either.]

Very well. We'll still try to get as much information as possible though!

[pluvial]

Yes, ma'am.

[ he gives her hand a squeeze as he follows a little behind her. there's still that easy smile on his face, but he's looking around as they walk, free hand on the hilt of the katana strapped to his side. ]

[coastal]

[You know, it was all fine and dandy until he squeezed her hand.

And then she remembered they were holding hands and now she's turning red and trying to pull her hand away even with her face lit up so intensely.]

Y-Y-Yamamoto! You're doing something unnecessary....!

[pluvial]

Hm? Like what?

[ nope, still holding her hand. deal w/ it. ]

[coastal]

[caN'T DEAL]

You're still holding my hand....!!

[pluvial]

[ he ends up falling in step next to her, their hands caught between them as he leans towards her a little. his voice is low, as if telling her a secret. ]

Did you want me to let go?

[coastal]

[why is his voice low why is he leaning in why is he still holding her hand

So even as fearless as Lili normally is, she's not sure how to react to this so she leans back a bit then, even with her face red and her eyes averted to the ground.]

Y-Yes!! It's-- You don't.... It's not necessary anymore!

[and why is her heart speeding up again?! there isn't any danger here....!]

[pluvial]

[ he should probably stop teasing her like this, even though she's super cute when she blushes. he lets go of her hand quickly, a sheepish smile on his face. ]

My bad.

[ he doesn't move further away from her, though the buzzing crowd they walk into once they reach the town proper makes it difficult anyway. he weaves through the people, heading towards the back. ]

[coastal]

[ . . . . . THE NERVE OF THIS BODYGUARD--

But even then once they're in town and there's a lot of people, she's suddenly wondering why he only decided to let go of her hand now.... So she's following after, if with a bit less grace and skill as Yamamoto, a hand coming up to her mouth as she's suddenly rather unsure of herself.

And then she's being bumped into by someone and is left running into Yamamoto's back anyway, clinging onto the back of his shirt-]

Ah-!

[PEOPLE???]

[pluvial]

[ because she told him to let go, okay, gosh. he glances behind him when he feels her bump into him, turning a little to steady her with a hand on her shoulder. ]

Whoa, you okay?

[coastal]

[Lili says a lot of things that end up not being good ideas in the long run.

Like visiting town and trying to find out about drug deals. Still though, she ends up steadied by Yamamoto and looks up at him, looking mildly disoriented.]

I'm fine - it's just... a bit busy.

[pluvial]

[ lili, please. ]

Yeah, it's kinda crowded, huh?

[ he lifts his free hand in between them, palm up and fingers open, as if asking if she wants to take his hand again. ]

[ . . . . . for a moment he just gets this face

[and then.... she relents and puts her hand in his again with a faint huff and trying to fight a blush off her cheeks]

Only because it's necessary....

[pluvial]

[ uh huh. ]

Of course.

[ he curls his fingers around hers and resumes leading them through the town, moving with a sort of graceful economy of motion as they navigate through the crowds of people. he only pauses when they reach the edge of town, a neutral expression replacing his easy smiles.

but he doesn't say anything and simply gives her hand a brief squeeze before he leads her in. ]

[coastal]

[It's moments like these that Lili remembers that Yamamoto has a lot more experience in town than she does - more experience about the world. For a brief moment, she finds herself both admiring and envious--

And then they're at the edge of town and she looks up at his expression when he squeezes her hand. For a moment, she hesitates before stepping forward and holding onto his hand just a bit tighter. She can do this. She wanted do this.

Of course, the darker edges of town are far from friendly. Already there is plenty of people, scenes similar to local bars and smoke in the air from the drugs. One sleeve moves to cover her nose and mouth while the other hand already holds onto him tighter.

If she does that, maybe it'll keep her nerves at bay so she doesn't shake.

Either way, she still steps forward.]
