Summary: Everybody likes a good bodyguard AU.

[Another day, another attempt to leave the grounds of the capitol -- and therefore another time that Lili got caught and is now being grounded. After no more than a few steps into her chambers does the door slam behind her and get locked from the outside.

Then with a quick glance back at the door and then one at the window, she's walking toward the window and opening it, contemplating if she can jump out--

Listen, no one can ever say she isn't resourceful.]

he doesn't even say anything, just smiles up at her. gurl if u jump he will catch you ok. don't even think about it. ]

SHE SLAMS THE WINDOW SHUT]

[ . . .

and then she opens it slowly again a few seconds later, coming out to her window and very distinctly not looking at him but rather that tree over there looks so interesting

she at least tries to keep her voice down to avoid attracting attention as she speaks to him]

.... I wish to go to town.

[as if she's not grounded

maybe yamamoto hadn't heard!!!]

[ lmao she's so cute. but yamamoto is unfazed when she slams the window shut, still smiling up at her even though she isn't directly looking at him.

also he totally heard. don't make his job harder. ]

Yeah? Did you need to pick up something? I can get it for you.

[ah. he heard. she frowns for a moment, frustrated before covering her mouth to try to obscure her unhappiness. that's ladylike right.]

No.... I wanted to go myself.

[quick lili, think of something-]

[ augh, what does he even do in this situation. on the one hand, her dad passed the order that she's grounded... ]

[ on the other, who even wants to be grounded???

it shouldn't be too bad if he went with her... right..... ]

[ after a moment, he doesn't respond and just heads back in, knocking on her door a few minutes later. ]

[he doesn't respond?! he totally just walked away!!

for a moment, she doesn't really have a response, instead just blinking in surprise.

then she's absolutely fuming - fuming. Ayura and Tetora won't take her out, she was hoping maybe she could convince Yamamoto since he was normally so understanding but

augh!! boys!

So at the knock at her door, she snaps-]

What is it?!

[not like she can open it herself]

[ ah... she's mad. but look, he just didn't want to shout his plan up to her from the window ok.

when he comes in, he's holding what looks to be a maid uniform in his free hand, closing the door behind him. ]

If we're gonna go into town, we gotta make it quick, just in case someone comes in the check. But maybe I can buy you some time.

[ he hands her the uniform ]

Try this on for me? It should fit okay.

[oh look it's the guy who walked away from the window!!

.............. but at least she loses all of her fight really quickly when he seems to be willing to take her into town. She takes the uniforms easily enough, recognizing it as a disguise and nods slowly. She turns to go into another section of her room to change before seeming to suddenly remember something.

Then she's stepping forward and snagging onto Yamamoto's sleeve as her tone gets concerned and slightly insistent.]

If you're going back outside- ... please don't go further than the door.

[Don't get her hopes up like this if you're not going to follow through.]

[ he looks back at her when she grabs his sleeve, a little surprised by her tone. sure, he's used to her being irritated at him, but this is a little different. ]

I kind of need to though. If we're gonna pull off the "prince and pauper" trick, we're gonna need the pauper, right?

[ he sets a hand on hers, expression softening into a smile. ]

I'll come back and we'll go into town together. I promise.

[Oh... She'd heard of that story. For a moment, her gaze is still contemplative and perhaps a bit more put out now, unhappy with being told that he does have to go farther. Though she supposes she understands.

So begrudgingly, she nods slowly--

and then realizes his hand is over hers

ah

cheeks already heating up, she retracts her hand!! she didn't mean to do that!]

M-Make sure that you do then!

I will, don't worry!

[ a pause-- ]

... I'm gonna need to borrow one of your dresses though.

... Don't get caught and make yourself look like a pervert.

[But she does at least go to retrieve one now.

When she comes back and hands it to him, it's at probably just one of her typical robes. And by typical, I really mean luscious and luxurious but y'know. Lady Lili and all that.]

[ it's definitely luxurious and yamamoto holds it like he would a baby in his arms, tucking it close against his chest and giving her a two-fingered salute. ]

Yes, ma'am!

[ and off he goes to find the maid he borrowed clothes from... ]

[ . . . . he's the worst.

But as she puts on the maid uniform and putters around her room to put up her hair in a different way to try to make herself even less recognizable, she can admit that there's probably some merit in this plan.... Okay....

Then, as she's waiting for him to return, she realizes she doesn't know whose clothes she's wearing right now.

Does Yamamoto know someone well enough to borrow clothes from them?

Could that weird guy be surprisingly popular?!

(Not that she's bothered by it, mind you.)]

[ it's a good thing he's always made a point to try and chat with the other servants -- his easy going nature and carefree smiles definitely help with that. it's also helpful that the maid he found was one of the younger and nicer ones, with an ill grandmother that yamamoto promised to give a cut of his pay to for medical fees in return for the favor.

it's the maid that enters first when they get back, decked out in lili's robes and looking like a daughter afraid of getting caught in her mother's clothing. thankfully, the robes fit all right, it's just a matter of restyling her hair to match the princess'. yamamoto gives lili a quick once over and nods. ]

Fits okay, right? While we're gone, we can have her stay in here... maybe have her pretend to sleep in case anyone tries to check in on you.

[ . . . . Nice and younger maid. Lili's still not that good at making friends but at the very least she can acknowledge when someone is doing her a favor. She looks between Yamamoto and the maid. Once. Twice.

Hm.

Then she nods her gratitude toward the maid.]

Thank you for doing this for me.

[Or Yamamoto.

Whoever she's doing it for.]

[ the maid turns red and promptly bows low, heading to lili's bed at yamamoto's prompting. he turns back to the princess, smile turning a little mischievous. ]

Ready to head out? We should try to get back before sunset.

[What's with that smile..... She looks a little suspicious but well, she did want to go out to town.

So she nods! And she tries to tuck her hair behind her ear to get it out of the way.]

Yes, let's go.

[And then she gestures for him to take the lead. Perhaps that would look more natural.]

[ this is exciting ok! he could totally get beheaded for this but he doesn't even care right now, opening the door and peeking his head out to check. ]

Okay, looks like we're good. Come on.

[ once lili leaves the room, he closes the door quietly and takes her hand, swiftly leading her out the main complex to the servant's exit in the back. ]

[She doesn't seem to really realize how much trouble they can get in for this okay. But it's also kind of a given that she wouldn't let Yamamoto get beheaded alright.

Either way she blinks in surprise when he takes her hand. Ah?? Ah.

Why are her cheeks heating up over her dumb bodyguard holding her hand--

.... she's just going to duck her head and follow, okay.]

You better not be doing anything unnecessary....
