Summary: Everybody likes a good bodyguard AU.

[Another day, another attempt to leave the grounds of the capitol -- and therefore another time that Lili got caught and is now being grounded. After no more than a few steps into her chambers does the door slam behind her and get locked from the outside.

Then with a quick glance back at the door and then one at the window, she's walking toward the window and opening it, contemplating if she can jump out--

Listen, no one can ever say she isn't resourceful.]

[ . . . . Nice and younger maid. Lili's still not that good at making friends but at the very least she can acknowledge when someone is doing her a favor. She looks between Yamamoto and the maid. Once. Twice.

Hm.

Then she nods her gratitude toward the maid.]

Thank you for doing this for me.

[Or Yamamoto.

Whoever she's doing it for.]

[ the maid turns red and promptly bows low, heading to lili's bed at yamamoto's prompting. he turns back to the princess, smile turning a little mischievous. ]

Ready to head out? We should try to get back before sunset.

[What's with that smile..... She looks a little suspicious but well, she did want to go out to town.

So she nods! And she tries to tuck her hair behind her ear to get it out of the way.]

Yes, let's go.

[And then she gestures for him to take the lead. Perhaps that would look more natural.]

[ this is exciting ok! he could totally get beheaded for this but he doesn't even care right now, opening the door and peeking his head out to check. ]

Okay, looks like we're good. Come on.

[ once lili leaves the room, he closes the door quietly and takes her hand, swiftly leading her out the main complex to the servant's exit in the back. ]

[She doesn't seem to really realize how much trouble they can get in for this okay. But it's also kind of a given that she wouldn't let Yamamoto get beheaded alright.

Either way she blinks in surprise when he takes her hand. Ah?? Ah.

Why are her cheeks heating up over her dumb bodyguard holding her hand--

.... she's just going to duck her head and follow, okay.]

You better not be doing anything unnecessary....

Haha, like what?

[ heh. ]

[ but ope, looks like there's a guard rounding the corner up ahead--

and that's when he pushes her into a nearby broom closet, carefully closing the door and putting a finger to his lips as he tries to listen to the footsteps outside. hope she doesn't mind the tight fit.... ]

[oh my god

there's a brief squeak of surprise when she suddenly finds herself pushed into the closet and that bit of blush?

softly, she hisses because she's too embarrassed to acknowledge the finger to his lips right now?!]

[ girl he is doing this for their own good ok. he gives her a sheepish smile though, still with his ear pressed to the door. ]

Haha, sorry, sorry! Just bare with it for a little, okay? I'll make it up to you.

[ . . . . . . and she just pouts at that. Fine.

It's not like he'd be doing this just for fun, right? She's so mean to him all the time, she can't imagine that he'd want to be this close to her....

So she just frowns and endures it for now, nodding slightly before realizing that with the motion, she brushes more against him.

Ah. Hm.

Okay, pressing herself against the wall of the broom closet now, still blushing up a storm. It's fine. It's casual.

No it's not, this is like the opposite of casual.]

[ maybe he's secretly a masochist and likes that she's such a mean tsun, okay. maybe he likes making her blush too, which is why he doesn't seem bothered at all by the fact that she brushes up against him a little more.

it sounds like the guard might be talking to another one outside, loud enough for him to hear without needing to press his ear against the door. he relaxes against the wall next to lili, chuckling quietly. ]

Though she can admit that her heart is beating a little bit faster - it's.... exciting. It's something new that breaks up the monotony of having to stay in her room all the time. And it's different from when she goes somewhere by herself because--

Well, even though they're so close to being discovered, she still feels safe right now.

It's reassuring.

So after she's quiet for a bit longer, she might nod ever so slightly.]

[ yamamoto was used to this kind of thing. had to, what with being tsuna and gokudera's best friend, playing vigilante and bringing down bad guys at home, dodging the law around every corner. but lili is different and he gets it, which is why he didn't think twice about sneaking her out of her room.

a princess had to experience the world herself in order to be a good ruler, right? ]

Where do you wanna go first once we get to town?

[She didn't think that far ahead.

He can probably tell from the contemplative silence.

Where would the drug dealers be?

[what exactly is she planning to do here

[ wait........... she didn't say what he thought she said, right....... ]

There might be clues about the crime epidemic...!

[okay she's struggling to keep her voice down but listen there is a distinct effort being made now]

I can't sit around in my room while people are suffering!!

[yeah yamamoto, get with the times]

[ look, this is not what he expected when he thought she needed to get out more. he's not really sure what to say at first; it's one thing to sneak her out and just hang around town, but it's a whole other beast to take her over to the slums. even he hasn't been there very often, but it's no place for a princess. ]

[ but he can't tell her no. he promised he'd take her out.

it's obvious he's not really on board with this idea though. ]

And if I take you there, what's your plan?

[Ah.... it is obvious. And she watches his face, taking note of his displeasure.

Should she have lied about her intentions?

Though all the same, she doesn't want to lie to Yamamoto. So she merely frowns as she looks up at him.]

Gather information if I can.... I want to find out who the supplier is.

[ yamamoto isn't good with sleuthing, that's gokudera's forte. but it's either refuse and risk the sure possibility of lili attempting to sneak out there on her own and raising the chances of her getting kidnapped, or agree and at least try to make sure they make it back unscathed.

he can make sure she's safe, at the very least. ]

... Okay.

[ he doesn't say anything more, moving to press his ear against the door again before slowly opening it. the hall is empty again and he steps out, holding the door open for lili as he looks around. once he's sure the coast is clear, he takes her hand again and starts off down the hallway. ]

[For a moment, she's ready for him to lead her back to her room and tell her that this is all over then. It's probably not what he was immediately agreeing to in the first place so maybe she wouldn't hold it against him (but she would, even if she'd try to talk herself out of it).

But instead he leads her in the opposite direction and says 'okay'.]

Okay?

[She echoes it faintly, still confused. Tentatively, her hand in his returns his grip, holding onto him instead of agreeing to be tugged.]

..... You aren't angry?

Not really. Should I be?

[ it's mostly rhetorical. technically, she is the princess so whatever she says goes. but it's not like he can be really mad at her, not when she's trying to help her people.

it doesn't mean he isn't worried though. ]

I promised you earlier. I can't go back on that.

[ . . . ah.

In the end, he's still such an agreeable person. And he's not mad at her. She doesn't say it but she's relieved about it and the concern on her face eases a bit.]

I-I'll repay you for this somehow.

Haha, it's fine. Just try not to go off on your own when we get there, okay?

[ it isn't too long before they reach the back exit, managing to avoid running into anyone else along the way. he leads her through the servant quarters and the back gardens, stopping at a small break between the bushes to uncover a worn gate. ]

[Ah... okay. She proceeds ahead of him then and at least seems to know the way to town now that they're out of the palace. So she keeps walking.

Though at this point she's gotten used to holding onto his hand so she doesn't quite let go either.]

Very well. We'll still try to get as much information as possible though!
